The four of us had a lovely time staying at The West Cork Hotel. The accommodation was excellent, the food was great, but what impressed us most was the very friendly and helpful manner of all of your staff. we were 2 adults and 3 kids, we had a fantastic stay, customer service was excellent, toys for children in the lounge was a nice touch. The staff were extremely patient with the children, very child friendly hotel. Food was very good. Rooms were good. A really enjoyable relaxing stay, returning next year!

Thumbs up on all aspects of the hotel - spacious room, clean and comfortable bed. Really appreciated the late breakfast till 12 noon and a great selection for breakfast. We were staying for a wedding in the hotel and the meal at the wedding was first rate. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Hi There, I had to make a last minute trip down to Schull last Wednesday and on searching for hotels I came across the West Cork. I contacted you by phone as I suspected online wasn't an option at that late stage. I got through to a very helpful girl called April who took my booking and was ever so pleasant. After a 4 hr drive I checked in , and again very helpful girl behind reception, I think her name was Sylvia. Naturally after a long drive, freshen up was required followed by a nice dinner so to my delight I noticed in the lift your Wednesday deal, classic burger and a pint for €13.50, what more could a man ask for after the long drive. On arriving at the bar a lovely lady called Joan (I think) took my order and brought my pint down to me as I took up a rather comfy armchair in front of the TV for the soccer. Dinner was delicious, looked very well on a serving board rather than a plate. Joan dropped down to check on the soccer now and again and to replenish my pint or two to finish off a very relaxing evening ahead of an early night for my big day on the Thursday. I will definitely return to your hotel and perhaps bring my wife and young 2 yr old next time. Although we are expecting our 2nd baby now at the end of August so not sure we'll be affording trips away before then. So many thanks to all for my one night away and hope to see again soon. thankyou for your email suggesting I write a review about your hotel. A friend and I have recently returned from a marvellous tour by car of Ireland, staying in a number of different hotels. Our first night was spent in your hotel, which was easily the best we stayed in whilst in Ireland and a hard actv to follow. We were greeted by a charming receptionist and shown to a delightful rom overlooking the river, we were told we had been upgraded, I,m not sure why. Dinner was excellent and very reasonable, dining before I think. 7.30pm we qualified for a special rate. the service was very good and we were entertained by a pianist who played such a good selection of music. Breakfast was well laid outand a good selection, a fact we came to appreciate as we stayed in further hotels, surprising how it varied.We dined on our second and final night and again the menu was varied and good. We greatly enjoyed our visit and would love to return one day For the price we paid it was far and away the best value we experienced.........10 out of 10 Diana McKenzie My friend lost a jersey annd emailed you on I trhink, a Sunday night. Within a matter of minutes a charming reply was sent saying a search had been made and alas it was not there ( it was left at a further hotel we dicovered later )

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay yet again in The West Cork Hotel recently. My bedroom was lovely and cosy, the breakfast fantastic and served until 12 noon which was another added bonus. Finally, the staff were all extremely welcoming, friendly and efficient and I am already looking forward to my return visit to the south west!

very relaxed atmosphere,friendly staff,excellent service and excellent food.we was part of the ryan/tobin wedding party and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. also staff were very accommodating towards children. room was spacious,although bathroom a little 'outdated' but fully functional. generally staff couldn't have been more helpful,especially when my suit jacket went missing,it was handed in the following day as it was taken by mistake by an other guest.reception notified me immediately.. overall 9/10 richard and jennifer dowler. co.cork

We stayed at the West Cork Hotel on a freezing night at the end of March, 2013. The welcome was warm, as was the very comfortable and quiet bedroom. We ate in the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the 'chicken special night' meal, and its bargain price. The wifi didn't work in the bedroom - as we find it doesn't in a good 50 per cent of the hotels we use across Europe. It was not a major problem, it worked fine in the reception and bar area. We look forward to staying at the West Cork again before too long - with warmer weather, we hope...

My sister and I were sight seeing around West Cork and as it was getting late and the weather was turning nasty, we decided to stay in Skibbereen and took a chance that we would find accomodation at The West Cork Hotel. We were immediately given two beautiful rooms at a very affordable rate. The first thing that struck us was the lovely warmth of the bedrooms, and the fabulous heated towels! The beds were so comfortable and warm and the standard of hygiene was excellent. The following morning, we had a most delicious breakfast in the dining room. Before we went to breakfast, I asked the receptionist would she be able to charge my phone for me as we were concerned about not having a phone on our long drive..immediately she found a charger and by the time we were ready to check out, my phone was fully charged and we were set to go. The staff were very pleasant, courteous and accomodating, the hotel was delightfully warm on a miserable day and we were sorry to be leaving but will be back for sure in the summer and will most certainly be staying at the West Cork Hotel.

Everything was great. The view(Room 245) was a bit ridiculous and had we been staying any longer than a wet night in March, it may have been an issue for me, but not under the circumstances. Would definitely come back.

A Very Pleasant Surprise! I recently had occasion to stay in the West Cork Hotel on business. My initial impression was an old style hotel but maintained to a very high standard. The staff were extremely accommodating and the friendly service was of a very high level and every request was fulfilled in a friendly and efficient manner. I had intended to go out for dinner but the food looked and indeed was very appetising and well presented that I decided to stay in the hotel and have one of their evening specials which was very good. The room was very pleasant with modern decor and well appointed. Breakfast offered a great choice of both hot and cold food. The price was excellent value and I will use this hotel again when I am in West Cork. I will plan to go for a few days leisure at a later stage this year and The West Cork will be on my itinerary.

Margaret Teegan and I had a very pleasant short break at West Cork Hotel in early February. Staff were welcomming and friendly and generally everything was to our liking. My overall impression was that the hotel was managed and run by hoteliers, who are interested in hospitality and suiting the guests needs, in contrast to many hotels nowadays that, it seems to me, are managed and run to a formula and purely as a business.

We were very happy with our stay and value for money. Bedroom was clean and comfortable. The bar food was tasty and fairly priced. The staff were friendly and professional. The breakfast was great with plenty of variety. My two teenagers stayed in a family room for the same price as children and ate huge breakfasts. Parking was freely available too.

I stay for one noght about every 8 weeks and always find the hotel very welcoming right from the reception to the staff in the bars and restaurant. Great deals on food in a very relaxing bar and a breakfast to die for before one leaves. I'll be back

Always love staying here. Have travelled over from the US an average twice/yr and met as if I was one of the family. Staff very friendly, meals, both value and quality very good. Stayed with family members recently , some of whom had never stayed here before. ,all impressed. Highly recommend, strong location for trips to the West and use as a base. Had an enjoyable weekend in the Skibbereen. I have stayed in this hotel many times before and was happy to return. Overall it was a good experience however we had to move rooms due to extremely loud music coming from the ballroom, which was going to continue until 2am! We were told the next day that everybody had been warned about the music at check-in but we weren't. I will definitely return to the hotel but will request a room far away from the ballroom, unless you are attending whatever is on.

JUST HAD A TERRIFIC TIME AT THE WEST CORK HOTEL.. WENT THERE FOR BURNS NICHT SUPPER FANTASTIC FOOD AND SERVICE VERY HAPPY STAFF AND EXTREMLY ATTENTIVE TO THEIR GUESTS. FOOD WAS DELICOUS FROM THE BAR FOOD TO BURNS NIGHT DINNER AND OF COURSE THE WONDERFUL BREAKFAST OF EGGS BENEDICT.. TOTAL PRAISE FOR THE CHEF WHO PREPARED THE MENU AND SERVED BEAUTIFULLY HOT AND FULL OF INCREDIBLE FLAVOUR.. WILL BE BACK AGAIN THATS FOR SURE,, THANKS FOR A GREAT TIME. JUNE GELDER...

The bedroom was very nice also the bathroom with everything we needed and more. The reception was very welcoming and friendly. The food was outstanding. Truly delicious and innotave. Lovely hotel, really friendly staff, food in bar and breakfast was extremely tasty, we had a room at the front of the hotel so was a little bit noisy from traffic and mattress was small bit hard but that is nitpicking in what is a bright, airy hotel, great location, great staff and great food. We travelled from Dublin to attend a funeral on 21st December. We were exhausted when we arrived at the West Cork Hotel and received only the greatest kindness and most wonderful service during our stay. The atmosphere in the Hotel was warm and hospitable and we were helped with directions to our destination the next day. Thank you so much. What a lovely Hotel, with smiling people!

An excellent hotel with even better staff. The food and drink are both good and reasonably priced. Superb setting too. Rooms are nice and clean. There's free wi-fi which is a bonus if you're an international visitor. Would stay again and recommend to a friend.

We had a brilliant stay. The staff were INCREDIBLY helpful. They called Bantry House for us to make sure it was opened, then advised us of the opening hours (our stay was the last week the house was open for the year). Hi Edel and all the staff, Both my wife and I had a wonderful time in the West Cork Hotel. From the moment we came through the door we were impressed. First and foremost the friendliness of the staff was very welcoming and we felt at home at once. This continued throughout the time of our stay. There was a sense of homeliness about the place, something that we felt marked the hotel out as special. We often talk about Irish hospitality so it's nice to report that it is alive and well in Skibbereen. The accommodation was cosy and clean and the room looked pleasantly out over the river. The town had a grand sense of itself and of course the fact that it is in the heart of West Cork is no harm at all. The food was, we thought, exceptional both in terms of quality and value. In particular the breakfast was really great. The fact that you had such a wide choice and that all the items were locally sourced was of five-star standard. I had a wonderful time at the hotel. i stayed with my husband and three children and found the room to be a very comfortable size and perfectly clean. breakfast was amazing and catered for all our needs. i would highly recommend this hotel, i found the staff from reception through to waiting staff and maids to be very friendly and helpful. also a big thank you to the wedding planner for making my sisters civil partnership very special. I found this hotel on the web while searching for somewhere near the bread school in hair island, booked it on line, the site was very easy to navagaite, arrive late in the evening , just before 9pm, the girl on the desk was lovely and very helpfully, we ask if there was any food available, we were tole the kitchen closes at nine, but that she would let the kitchen know we would like food,and they stayed for us, food was excellent ,staff at the bar were very pleasant ,my room was lovely & cosy, breakfast in the morning had a large variety of goodies, and a range of sizes on the full irish, which is great as some of us do not work on building sites, again the morning staff were very friendly, while at breakfast a tall older well dressed gentelman came over to ask us if every thing was to our liking,to which we said yes thank, I can only think this was the overall man in charge,again a nice touch,you don't get that in many hotels, I would recommend this hotel with bells on, I shook forward to visiting again in the future , Yvonne Ruane Galway,Ireland

I had a lovely warm room, plenty of hot water for a relaxing bath and the sound of the river to help me wind down. 10/10 I do not like the quality of the tea in the Restaurant and the fruit juices served. Breakfast rating would be 5/10. I like the evening food and really like the bedrooms. The staff are great, cheerful and polite. I would visit more often if the breakfast was nicer quality (quantity is excellent).

We had a wonderful midweek break at the west cork hotel skibbereen, The staff were very friendly and courteous and there was a lovely atmosphere in this hotel. The food was of a very high standard and there was a good variety of dishes as well as being good value for money. I stayed in the hotel in march 1982 while on my honeymoon and i enjoyed my stay because everybody was so friendly and the food was fantastic, but i must say that my trip last weekend was every bit as good, and all my friends also had high praise for the staff and the food. A great weekend was had by all. I dont want to sound negative but i did have a problem on sunday morning while checking out due to lack of communication, the person at the desk was not aware of the deal that we had agreed for the rate for the single room, which was a bit strange but we sorted it out in the end. Recently stayed in your hotel for a weekend with friends. From the moment we arrived till the moment we departed we found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms we had 19, & 20 were quite comfortable after an initial hiccup with the heating in No 19 which was sorted. The breakfast on both mornings was very enjoyable as was the bar food we had on the evening we arrived. One small suggestion is that one shampoo and one body wash is hardly sufficient for two people for 2 nights. Other than that our stay was very enjoyable and we would certainly stay with you again.

Enjoyed my stay very much. Lovely friendly atmosphere and and I was amazed that the staff remembered my name so often. Food excellent and rooms very comfortable and you know, it was my first visit ever to a hotel where the light in the room was adequate to read comfortably. I have even resorted to bringing my own reading lamp when travelling but this time did not need to unpack it. Loved looking out at the flowing Ilen river that holds so many memories for me. I stayed at the West Cork Hotel on the 19th & 20th October, arriving without a reservation I was delighted that you were able to take me, on Saturday morning I decided to stay another night which was also available, it is October but the hotel was busy. I had an event to attend early on Saturday morning so left at 7.30 and returned at 10.45 still in time to have breakfast which was a highlight of my stay, the bacon was special but the marmalade was traditional and the best I have tasted since my mothers home made. The event I was attending had its prize giving on Saturday evening so I did not eat in the hotel in the evening but plan will a return visit there was so much in the area that I did not get a chance to see. We stayed at the West Cork Hotel in September on our first visit to Ireland. Midway through our trip we had decided to visit the south coast and all it had to offer. Without a hotel booked we ventured out in our rental car. Friends had visited the hotel in the past and so that was what we were looking for. Without trouble we found the hotel. We were very lucky in that there were two rooms available for us. While we enjoyed a drink on your outdoor patio we decided to stay an extra night. We were lucky to get a room during the food festival and the guest manager offered a suite at a great price. We were also pleasantly surprised the next morning when we enjoyed coffee and a paper in the lobby and then a beautiful breakfast all included. We recently stayed at The West Cork Hotel and what a pleasure it was. Such a nice change to come across really really friendly helpful staff. We were greeted by the receptionist and the owner upon our arrival who made us feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were very comfortable and had all mod cons. Breakfast was delish and served until 12 noon which is so much better than the usual 10/10.30 am. Who wants to be up at that hour on holidays?! Nothing was ever too much trouble, even at 4 in the morning. If you want a taste of the true blue old fashioned hospitality then this is the place for you. We'll be back!!

Hi, you were recommended to us by Pat Maguire (local auctioneer) he stated the hotel was excellent and he was correct. The room was very quiet (a request by us) the evening meal and menu were good as was the bar and breakfast. I found the West Cork Hotel quite by accident, and what an amazing hotel! It was the highlight of my trip to Ireland!!! The charm and elequence was like stepping back a 100 years into one the finest hotels in New York. Their staff & food service were absolutly fantastic! I had the pleasure of staying at the West Cork Hotel this past Aug. It was the highlight of my trip to Ireland. Your hotel and staff are amazing.. especially the ladies at the front and and the lady (sorry, I should remember her name) (Just tell her it was the the person that came to find Kilkilleem, she will know) that was alwasy soooo very helpful to me all of the time, I think she may have been the manager at the desk from 3-9.. She is amazing.. She even asked the kitchen to hold dinner for me one night when I was coming back late in a cab.. I can hardly wait to come back once again and yes, I would give it a 5 star rating. Our Canadian hotels could take a page out of your book! By the way the food and service was excellent as well. Thanks again and I shall be seeing you in 2013! Very pleasant stay in what is a lovely hotel, esp the very charming facade, rooms were clean although I had to ask for water for my room, bar food was fine but best of all was the staff, led by the very professional Neil Grant, they were very friendly, attentive and not the automatons so often found in Irish hotels these days. Would like to see the hotel do a bit more with all that river frontage running alongside.

Hello All, I stayed in the hotel for two nights. I found the staff and management to be very helpful and courteous. The food was good both in the bar and in the dining room. My room was quiet spacious but a terrible view along with the outside noise of large fans ? or ?. However the noise went off about 10pm. There was a food festival taking place and the hotel was heavily booked. I only made my reservation on the morning of my arrival hense I can understand that all rooms were in use. My husband and I stayed at the West Cork recently and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We had often visited the hotel to sample the lovely food but it was our first time availing of the accommodation. We were very pleasantly surprised. The room was full of old world charm and had everything we would have required - only slight negative was that it was a bit small. The food was beautiful but the thing that struck us most was the customer service. The warm attitude, prompt friendly service and professional approach of your staff to the customers and each other showed that your employees are experienced, well trained and happy. We were very lucky to find this gem of accommodation late in the eve after a day of sight-seeing in west Cork.We had a most comfortable bedroom though it did involve a long stairway, so would only be suitable for the mobile individuals, though I did observe bedrooms at lower levels.The staff throughout from reception in particular to dining room to bar staff were so friendly and most accommodating. I commented to a dining room member that the brown bread had a distinctive lovely flavor and inquired what seeds were in the recipe,she accepted my compliment and said she would inquire about ingredients, not only did she do that but returned to our table with several slices of the said bread wrapped in silver paper in a paper bag. (most enjoyed by all the family in Wexford over the w/e who were given a sample of this special produce). This is the type of the special place this hotel is, it's staff are special., it has the personal touch. Food is excellent, we enjoyed an excellent dinner, great value for money and had the home cooked fresh flavor. Overall I would give this hotel full marks and look forward to returning when I'm exploring west Cork again.Star rating 5.

I am staying in hotels for the last 25 years and this hotel is what hotels used to be prior to the celtic tiger.Friendly staff,good food, a fresh breakfast as opposed to the "rubber buffet ones" and a quiet room.Not a lot to ask for but sadly missing from most modern hotels.This is a home from home.They have got it right in every aspect.I am a member of trip adviser and I look forward to posting a review on it for them Gerry Treacy

The food was delicious, we had lunch in the bar, dinner in the evening, and the breakfast was superb. The location is great for heading into town for a wander. Room was ok, there was a number of us staying and some of the rooms were much more modern than others, we had a very old portable tv in our room, but i understand that you are in the middle of upgrading rooms so this is fair enough, Staff were polite at all times and we had dinner for our large party, the waitress was excellent and could not do enough for us, Food also was top class, The Bar was well run and again staff were very helpful, i would recommend replacing the Carpets on the stairs & landing as there is quite a musty smell from them, also i would make more use of the Bridge area, if it was painted & good lighting it could be a focal point of the Hotel, so my stay overall was a happy one and would look forward to booking again. A wonderful experience from the excellent welcome from Margaret, to the superb waitress on bar snacks (Sinead I think) - these 2 members of staff are truly fantastic and go the extra mile. I particularly noticed Margarets disability awareness and her attention to detail, she is amazing. The room was really comfortable, I would only say that a towel rail in the bathroom and a small shelf near the shower for toiletries would have made it perfect. The breakfasts were very good indeed and we really enjoyed the table d hote evening meal. We would certainly recommend to friends and come again when we are able. The only negative comment would be about a young woman who struts around in a grey suit, demonstrates no disability awareness and needs some tuition in customer service skills.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights from 9-12 September.2012. We received excellent service - the staff at reception were very welcoming, gave us complimentary tea on arrival and allocated us a very well appointed room with a view over the river. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was very well supplied. Breakfast was what every Irish hotel should be offering. First of all it is available until noon - as after all it should suit holidaying guests rather than hotel timetables. And the food served was superb. Best west Cork ingredients for the full Irish, but also Union Hall smoked salmon, eggs Benedict, French toast, locally smoked mackerel and freshly baked bread and scones. Had there been freshly squeezed orange juice it would have been absolute total perfection. Evening dinner is also excellent. Again wonderful fresh west Cork food and decent wine available by the glass. Complimentary newspapers and the fact that the situation of the hotel is right in the centre of Skibbereen ensure that I will stay here again the next time I am in West Cork. Dear West Cork Hotel. We thought the hotel in general was very good, in particular the staff (all that we came in contact with) were absolutely first class and very good at their job, and often more than one job at that. We were placed on the second floor as there were two weddings during the four days we were with you, and when we booked it was thought it would be better for us as "things can get a bit hectic during weddings", and why not? Nevertheless, we were in two rooms imediatley over the main road entrance to the hotel and in the early hours of each morning after the weddings, we were awoken at around 3a.m. by much hollering and arguing in very high pitched voices by some wedding guests. In hindsight I could have called reception, but in all fairness and taking into account the amount of alcohol consumed, I doubt if this would have improved the situation. No doubt most of the people concerned were "smokers" and things for whatever reason, got a little out of hand. Maybe the Hotel could give some consideration to making an enclosed "smoking area" somewhere less intrusive, and encourage people to use it. We thought the food throughout the hotel was very good, and as already stated, the service excellent. Whilst my husband would agree with all I have mentioned so far, he was disappointed to find on our last morning that there was no hollandaise sauce in the kitchen. Having discovered "Eggs Kennedy" three days earlier and never to then heard of it, this was a body blow that he is only just getting over. Another fabulous stay - the place gets better every time! I can't remember anywhere else I've stayed where the welcome was so genuine and where so much effort was made to cater to the needs of individual guests and groups. This time there was a (lovely) wedding going on when we arrived; we'd been given a quiet room tucked away so the disturbance would be minimal. Despite being rushed off their feet the staff were as friendly and efficient as ever. This is the second time we've stayed at the hotel for one night whilst visiting a sick relative. The hotel presentation is brilliant as is all the service. Overall the hotel was excellent with helpful staff and excellent food and setting. Double room small and no bath which would be a downside if you were staying for more than a couple of nights really need to start using Keycards as only one key for each room which isn't enough for a couple who wish to do different things.

I am just home from a family wedding and two night stay in the fantastic west cork hotel. The hotel is the best i have ever stayed in. The food was excellent and the service was friendly helpful and respectful. I have three children who also loved their stay. The rooms were lovely clean and spacious. Room verry tidy, warm and comfortable, staff verry friendly, food delicious with generouse servings. it would be nice to have morning and afternoon tea inc in the price, or a facility in the lounge/dining areas to make your own, as it is a bit awkward to make one in the room. to milk saches are also verry small u need 2-3 for each cup, otherwise, you are doing a fantastic job, I would stay there again.

You did a perfect job when our collegues had water in their room, that you brought them to an alternative B&B in the middle of the night. And you helped us to stay another night at your place, even the Hotel was almost full. Thank you very much helping us to minimize the diasater with our ship, at a place where we could relax and overthink the problems we had, in the very decent surrounding of your Hotel. The Pub and Restaurant were excellent. The care of the reception and your other staff (Pub, Restaurant and all the others invoved), were extraordinary. The lobby and the function rooms are quite beautiful and our guestroom was also lovely. We had the most enjoyable breakfast that was included with our stay. We came across the hotel purely be accident, our car had broken down and we needed a bed for a night that turned into 3 nights and thankfully the hotel was wonderful. The staff were all excellent and very accomodating. Decor was beautiful and a plus for me is that the shower was a really good one! The food was spot on and reasonably priced. I stayed in The West Cork Hotel with my family for three nights and had a very pleasant experience. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the food is top class in both quality and value. Breakfast served until noon is a particularly nice touch. We stayed at the West Cork Hotel at the end of June 2012 for a wedding. We had a lovely time there and felt very much at home. The fact that breakfast is served until 12 noon is brilliant as we like our breakfast, so no rush in the morning. We had a lovely room overlooking the river Ilen which was well equipped, hairdrier, iron, tea/coffee etc and a beautiful bathroom too. All of the staff were so helpful and friendly. We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights - family wedding. We found the room lovely and comfortable - plenty of room and a huge bed. bathroom was very clean and airy. We ate in the bar on the first evening and the food was delicious - bar staff were so nice and friendly. breakfast was very tasty - lovely menu. The wedding itself was superb - from the drinks reception to the dancing the night away ! I would highly recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back. The staff from the welcome we got when we checked in to the goodbyes when we were leaving were so nice and friendly. All in all a great experience. 5 stars !

Hello~ We enjoyed two nights at the West Cork Hotel recently for the wedding of Aileen Harrington and her husband Dave. We came from Boston and truly felt pampered by ALL of the staff at the West Cork, especially AnneMarie-she was phenominal, always around, always helpful and pleasant and aiming to please. The rooms were spotless and it was greatly appreciated to have such care for my daughter, Fiona, such as the crib in the room and the kitchen staff heating some meals for her-it means so much and made the stay very enjoyable. I am delighted to review my stay. I have decided to make a habit of reviewing restaurants on tripadvisor as I think feed back is important to the industry. It was a fab hotel. The service, the food and the staff - all get top marks. Staff very friendly which in a tourist location is essential. This was my first visit to west Cork but I will be returning with my family and staying the the West Cork Hotel. Well done to all and keep up the good work. The breakfast menu was extensive and my choice of poached eggs benedict was delicious. I was a little disappointed by the lack of fresh fruit and also thought it would have been appropriate to serve a local yoghurt. The bedroom was adequate, clean and functional. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful (they arranged for Jean Hegarty to take me touring) and the dining room staff were also very pleasant. Someone had commented on the internet that the porrage was delicious, so I tried it and it was great. The only glitch was I had to check out at 6:30 AM and no desk staff so a notation somewhere for the future guests would be helpful so they could check out the evening before. stayed at the west cork hotel with my husband and daughter for a weekend. I found the hotel to be very comfortable and the staff very accommodating. The breakfast is amazing and is served till 12 pm.Loved the friendliness of the mainly cork staff. it is nice to stay in a hotel these days where local staff are employed. My wife and I stayed at WCH on 10/11/12/13 May 2012 and had a wonderful time. Our room was at the front of the hotel overlooking the River Ilen and it was very comfartable and had everything we needed. An iron and ironing board was provided within 30 minutes of asking and coffee/tea making facilities were topped up regularly. The hanging space was a little limited but adequate for our needs. The best features of the hotel were the hospitality and the food. All the staff (reception, restaurant, bar, managers) were EXTREMELY friendly and chatty and we felt as if we were part of a big family during our stay. Breakfast was cooked on request, was piping hot and the food items were of the very best quality. The plates were warm and the food sizzling hot and when we asked whether we could have our toast made from sourdough bread it appeared within minutes. Dinner was also a joy to eat. We had steak one evening and the meat was sender, succulent and perfectly cooked to our specification. On another evening we had pizzas and they were thin, crispy and HUGE - very tasty and lovely to eat with a nicely dressed side salad. Wine was reasonably priced and I can speak highly of their Cotes du Rhone which had a lovely bouquet and full taste but the house merlot was also very acceptable. Overall we had a lovely time and will definitely go out of our way to stay there again when next we visit ireland.

We really enjoyed our stay with you, lovely friendly atmosphere around the hotel and nice new look to the interiors! There was one lady in particular - I think her name was Margaret (she was on reception- short hair ). Her attitude and helpful manner is something I have not experienced in Irish Hotels for some time - she really is a gem and a super person to have at front of house. I understand that we had only bought a Boards.ie deal but I was disappointed that I could not pick from the standard evening menu and that I have to pick from a more limited menu. I would have been happy to have just picked a main course and not have a starter and desert! Anyway that is only a minor thing, we really enjoyed our stay and West Cork in general. Good hotel, our room was lovely, however other people in our party had less modern rooms. I attended a wedding at the hotel, the food and hospitality was fantastic. We stayed at the West Cork for two nights in April. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was very good. It happened to be a very busy week-end but one still felt valued as a patron. The only negative was that the carpet in our bedroom could have done with a little bit more of a cleaning before our arrival. I normally wouldn't give a high rating when I have a poor night sleep in a hotel but I think we were just unlucky with the room. I made a last minute reservation so I'm thinking this may have been their standby room. It was very near the lift and the walls seemed too thin. We awoke many times during the night due to the hall traffic. On the plus side is everything else the hotel offered. Staff were the friendliest around, the breakfast was outstanding and the room comfortable. I'd highly recommend it just make sure you aren't near the lifts.

We really enjoyed our recent stay in the West Cork Hotel. The staff were the friendliest bunch we've met in a long time. The food was excellant - nothing wrong with the pints either! Entertainment was good and everyone made the effort for us to enjoy the weekend. We would easily recommend the West Cork Hotel and the area for a holiday. The service in the bar and restaurant wasexcellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The ouside area with thebridge is very pleasant. The room was adaquete but could do with updating and I found the room cold upon arrival, maybe the heaters in the room could be turned on before check in? Kathleen or Catherine, the main lady on the reception is the best of the best. The duvet was top quality. The extractor fan was noisy but it was turned off as promised at 9.30pm. I have no hesitation in recommending this centrally located and upmarket hotel. A pity about some of the customers but the hotel can't help that.

My husband and I loved the hotel. It combines traditional elegance with modern conveniences. Our suite, overlooking the river and with a view to the mountains, was spacious and luxurious. Very nice Hotel. Food was absolutley beautiful. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Only negative I have is that the bed wasnt very comfortable and there was a hard strip down the middle of the bed which felt like it was two single beds pushed together.
