Burns Night Triumph for West Cork

January 27th, 2012 by West Cork Hotel Ireland

A sell out event and enjoyed by all who attended, the spirit of Rabbie Burns kindled a flame in Skibbereen on Wednesday 25th January as The West Cork Hotel and West Cork Food hosted the first West Cork Burns Supper.

The event exceeded our expectations that due to the interest in the event, Neil had to order more supplies of Haggis a few days before and we all breathed a sigh of relief when they arrived on the afternoon of event!

The event did not only celebrate Scotland and Robert Burns, but it celebrated the fantastic produce available in West Cork and guests were served a seven course meal which married West Cork produce into a traditional Scottish meal including, of course, ‘a wee dram’.

The main dish of haggis was ceremonially brought in held aloft by our very own Head Chef Dean Diplock and piped in by bagpiper Michael Hurley in the traditional manner. During the meal there were poetry recitals and afterwards guests were treated to a music session in the West Cork Hotel bar in Skibbereen.

All in all a great night was had and planning for 2013 is already under way as guests on the night were asking if they could book for next year!
