The vast and beautiful Glandore Harbour provides the backdrop for the two distinctive coastal villages of Glandore and Union Hall. Despite overlooking the harbour, both villages situated 10 km east of Skibbereen are very different and come with their own distinct attractions.

Union Hall is a traditional Irish village with a working fishing port framed by a unique one-lane bridge. Indeed the quaintness and charm of the village have been recognised by many artists over the centuries, amongst them Jonathan Swift. And for film buffs it is worth noting that Union Hall was one of several West Cork locations for Sir David Puttmans 1994 Irish film “The War of the Buttons”, its distinctive bridge providing the setting for the pivotal opening scenes.

Being a traditional and working fishing village, it is no surprise that angling and deep-sea fishing are popular pastimes and depending on the season its seas deliver rich pickings.
