The Sky Garden at Liss Ard is one of only two in the world designed by the American sculptor James Turrell. Inspiration for the sky garden was drawn from a variety of sources and traditions including, Celtic, Egyptian and Mayan archaeological concepts and buildings. The magnificent 'Crater' in the sky garden was designed by James Turrell, an extraordinary American artist who is world-renowned for his works on the theme of 'Light', as well as the Swiss architect Gert Burla.
The Crater was created for the Irish skies to be appreciated by the spectators lying on the stone structures at the bottom and the dome-effect that is created in the elliptical frame is truly an unforgettable experience for those visiting.
The stunning Lissard House Hotel and Gardens comes equipped with acres upon acres of scenic gardens and trails. Woodland walks are designed with pathways to offer both locals and visitors alike a truly contemplative experience complete with enchanting vistas around each and every corner.
