Clans and Pirates in Baltimore West Cork

This weekend in Baltimore it was the annual O'Driscoll Clan Gathering, known as the O'Driscoll Clan Mid Summer Festival, the weekend always has a full programme of events, including music and tours, treks, and speeches, and this year was no different. A highlight in the calendar and one of the popular west cork activities, the O'Driscoll Clan Gathering is in many ways like a large family gathering - a celebratory party atmosphere, where friends and family get together to exchange stories and memories. The fun and festivities does not stop there, as next weekend, 29th June - 1st July, West Cork and the area of Baltimore hosts the Pirate Weekend, throughout the weekend of events including music, storytelling, treasure hunts and water based activities, a competition will run for the best dressed male and female pirates, with points awarded for costume and Buccaneer behaviour. Final prize giving will take place Sunday 1st July. So if you are in the area for the clan gathering or maybe for the pirate weekend and looking for somewhere to continue the party atmosphere, why not join us at the West Cork Hotel tomorrow night, when we will have traditional Irish music and dance with "bacon and cabbage" from 9pm and then again on Saturday 30th June, when we will have more traditional Irish Music with Gordon and Rose in our Ilen bar in Skibbereen from 9pm.
