County Cork to host a record 139 Gatherings this Summer
There is definitely only one place to be this summer and that is County Cork, who is hosting a record 139 Gatherings in just two months!
With new and exciting gatherings planned especially for 2013, as well as some more established events and relatively new festivals, locals and visitors to the area of Cork have so far this summer been entertained by a whole host of wonderful events so far, including the second annual Random Acts of Kindness Festival in Clonakility, a National Welly Throwing Championships in Araglin, as well as the Street Performance World Championship in Cork City, which saw Cork's comedy acrobatic duo Lords of Strut beat off the international competition to be named champions for 2013.
Looking ahead, locals and visitors to the area that may be staying at our Hotel in West Cork can look forward too many more festivals and events next month with the Irish Red Head Convention in Crosshaven taking place from 23rd – 25th August, which is also having an early event this week in conjunction with Hassett’s Bakery in Carrigaline, when they beat the Guinness World Record for the most amount of “ginger nut” cookies baked in one hour! Also taking place is the World Mini Games, which takes place from 22nd – 25th August in venues around Cork City and County. Featuring plenty of different adult sports, the games are open to all, and offer the opportunity for those attending to get involved and take part as well as enjoy live music and entertainment. There is also in the heart of West Cork, the Clonakilty Waterfront Festival taking place this weekend, 1st – 4th August, the Roscarbery Family Festival from the 8th-18th August, the Cape Clear Charity Fun Day on 18th and the Skibbereen Arts Festival taking place now until 4th August
With so many things to do in West Cork and Cork this summer, there really is no other place to be!
