10th Anniversary of the Ballydehob Jazz Festival

With Spring throwing up an array of some marvellous weather, the draws of the upcoming Summer season are finally drawing close. And in West Cork, the upcoming month of May introduces us to some of the most noted and beloved summer festivals of West Cork.  One of these popular festivals is the Ballydehob Jazz Festival which takes place on the not too distant May Bank Holiday Weekend (29th April- 2nd May).

The picturesque and quirky village of Ballydehob, is set to come alive on the May Bank Holiday Weekend with its now annual Jazz Weekend festival. This year to celebrate the festivals 10th anniversary a New Orleans funeral parade with a multi-coloured coffin, a 20 piece brass band and a 10 ft “widow” puppet complete with a trailing black veil is also planned for the popular festival.

The colourful four-day May Bank Holiday Weekend festival, which usually attracts approximately 3,000 visitors to the peninsula village with fewer than 300 inhabitants, has earned an international reputation since it commenced.
