Cork's Celtic Cook-Off Celebration Dinner

West Cork’s well established and famous Celtic Cook-off returned to the Cork city last Friday night to celebrate the long running success of the event in Fenns Quay Restaurant. Kate Lawlor a contestant from last year’s Skibbereen showpiece as well as a team of Scottish chefs joined forces with visitors to host a dinner in celebration of the success of Celtic Cook-Off. The West Cork Hotel and Braehead Foods also came on board and joined in the fun on the night.

A stream of fantastic food using local produce was enjoyed by all and guests warmed up on a cold wintery night with a wee dram of Scotch thanks to Neil Grant and the West Cork Hotel and a taste of Avril Allshire-Howes’ renowned black pudding bread.

The Celtic Cook-off, a fun and informative cooking show showcases the best of West Cork produce cooked simply with each chef’s own interpretation and ideas. The first Celtic Cook Off took place in 2011 and was held as part of A Taste of West Cork Festival.

The event boosts Celtic Food Tourism, opening up new opportunities for both promoting artisan produce and for creating fantastic celtic dishes so that both mutually benefit from this promotion of each other’s regions, restaurants, food producers and food festivals.
