Walking and Whale Watching in West Cork

West Cork is the place to be this weekend for all walkers and whale watchers, as Baltimore hosts the Irish Heart Foundation Walking Weekend and Cape Clear hosts the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG) whale watching course.

Taking place on 28th-29th September, just 10-15 minutes drive from our hotel in West Cork, in the picturesque fishing village of Baltimore, the Irish Heart Foundation Walking Weekend will offer guided walks of differing grades for all ages and abilities on coastal routes, hill climbs and around the islands in Roaringwater Bay

Over in Cape Clear Island, accessible by ferry from Baltimore, from 27th-29th September, the Irish Whale & Dolphin Group will be conducting a whale-watching course. A weekend of relaxation on the beautiful island off the west Cork coast, the course is an opportunity to experience not only one of Irelands most glorious islands but also to observe some of the 24 species of whales and dolphins that’s can be spotted in Irish waters! Suitable for over 16s – the course entails a series of indoor presentations and guided land-based watches as well as a whale watch boat trip (weather permitting).
