if you are looking to see what's on in West Cork this weekend, Skibbereen is hosting a St. Patrick’s weekend worth remembering with a range of events taking place over the weekend. For family things to do in West Cork, the town’s parade will commence at 2:30pm on Ilen Street where it will continue to the town’s square, allowing people to enjoy the spectacle. The theme of this year’s festival is “The Soul of the Southwest” and this year’s parade is set to be bigger and better, making it the perfect family outing. Before the parade commences there is also a planned Irish music session which is set to take place in the centre of the town.
The Skibbereen Vintner’s Association has also plans to showcase the town as the number 1 destination this St. Patrick’s weekend with a number of events taking place in the town between 8 and 10pm on Saturday evening. Creating fun around the weekend, anyone by the name of Paddy will have a special pass to enter the parade on St. Patrick’s Day and one lucky Paddy will also be crowned “West Cork Paddy” after the parade ends, where the lucky winner will receive a cash prize along with celebrity status for the weekend’s festivities. To enter all Paddy’s need to wear green and they also need to bring along some form of identification. Those registered will receive a free pint in one of the town’s pubs. Other activities planned for the day include a fancy dress, singing and talent contests, welly throwing and much more- making Skibbereen the place to be this St. Patrick’s Weekend!
The 4 of Us are also set to entertain families on Sunday in Skibbereen from 6-8pm and Abbeystrewery Hall there is a fundraiser being held with face painting and more fun activities for all. Not forgetting Mother’s Day which is also this Sunday where Kennedy restaurant in Skibbereen have special menu options on offer for the day. Also after treating mum to a lovely Sunday lunch when it comes to pubs in Skibbereen, relax and unwind in the Bridge Bar in Skibbereen complete with cozy snug and friendly atmosphere- a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
