West Cork Wild Atlantic Way Beaches

Warm temperatures and stunning beaches: a summer holiday destination right on our doorstop

They say “life’s a beach” and with this spell of warm Mediterranean weather we have been having this summer, that phrase has never been more apt.  Locals and visitors alike have been taking advantage of the sunny weather we have been having of late by heading to the coast to enjoy the unspoilt beaches and the many opportunities they present amongst them including watersports and fun activities.

Two esteemed beaches in West Cork that feature on many top beaches to visit along the new Wild Atlantic Way Route are; Inchydoney and Barleycove beaches. The glorious strand of Inchydoney is situated just a short distance from the town of Clonakilty and Barleycove beach (whose dunes are as impressive as its white strand) is located less than a few kilometres from Mizen Head and its Signal Station (Ireland's most southwesterly point).

Inchydoney and Barleycove beaches are just two stunning examples of the many beaches of note that can be found along the 2,500 km stretch of coastline along the Wild Atlantic Way route.

For holidaymakers who are tempted to swap the sunny and overcrowded beaches of the Mediterranean for the underrated and more secluded beaches of Ireland, making a visit to West Cork is sure not to disappoint. The wide variety of beaches and strands in the region offer locals and visitors alike plenty of opportunities to take advantage of this summers sun, making a visit to west cork a great option for beach goers this year.
