The West Cork Hotel Wedding Event January 2013

The New Year shall barely have begun before we here at the West Cork Hotel shall be turning our attention to all things wedding related.

Happening on Sunday 27th January at your Hotel in West Cork, the West Cork Wedding Event shall take place between 2 – 6pm.

Showcasing the fantastic facilities on offer here at our wonderful West Cork Wedding Venue, including our function rooms, bridal suites and guest bedrooms, brides and grooms to be will also have the opportunity to view and take part in cookery demonstrations and wine tastings.

We are also pleased to announce that a range of local and national wedding suppliers shall be joining us for the day as will Karen from Weddings by Karen Buchanan and that our Wedding Event Showcase shall feature a bridal fashion show to highlight the latest in bridal fashion for both brides and grooms.

Cork Monopoly goes on sale

Excitement is bubbling around Cork as the official launch of the Cork edition of Monopoly is unveiled tomorrow, Friday 19th October.

It is not yet known what famous Cork landmarks will feature on the Cork edition of the popular family board game that according to the London based makers of Monopoly, Winning Moves UK, captures the spirit of Cork.

With Cork Monopoly hitting the shelves of toy and book stores from 9am tomorrow morning, we don’t have long to find out and we here at the West Cork Hotel are looking forward to discovering what landmarks will feature in the new edition of the board game, which is sure to be a big hit and prove a popular  Christmas gift idea to send to loved ones  living aboard.

Congratulations Stephen Redmond

Stephen Redmond of Ballydehob completed the gruelling seven-channel swim across the globe.

The father of two from completed the s Seven Challenge over a period of nearly three First completing the English Channel in August 2009, before next conquering the North Channel in August 2010 an to date is one of the few swimmers to have successfully completed this tough stretch between Scotland and Ireland. In May 2011, he completed the strait of Gibraltar and in October of that year the Catalina Channel near Los Angeles. This year he completed the Molokai Channel in February 2012, the Cook Strait in New Zealand in February 2012 before finally completing his last swim the Tsugaru Strait in Japan in July 2012, finishing at about 5:50pm Irish time on Saturday 14th July in a time of 14 hours and 24 minutes.

Wonderful West Cork Wedding Entrance

West Cork Hotel Wedding BoatOn Saturday 16th June 2012, Evaleen Whelton from Ballinora, Waterfall and Colm O’Regan from Bandon, arrived to their West Cork Wedding Venue in style as they sailed in on a private boat along the Ilen River.

west cork wedding boatsTheir boat journey from Deelish Pier to The West Cork Hotel attracted quite a bit of attention as wedding guests eagerly awaited their arrival on The Old Railway Bridge at our hotel in west Cork, where they scattered flower petals into the water as the newly wedded couple arrived.

West Cork Wedding VenueThe couple embarked on to dry land to enjoy the rest of their celebrations inside our hotel, but ended their special day and evening with a duck race up the river.
