Recent wedding survey by Weddings Online

When it comes to choosing wedding venues West Cork is one of the most stunning locations in Ireland to have your big day, with stunning photo opportunities and a range of venue options on offer.

According to a recent survey undertaken by “weddingsonline” couples are now spending an average of €22,531 on the total cost of their wedding including the all important honeymoon!

Weddings are one of the most important days in a couple’s life and as we all know when it comes to weddings in Ireland, there’s usually no expense spared when it comes to the big day.

The results from the survey are based on the responses of 2,000 people surveyed with the figure representing an increase of 6% from the last year.

In an effort to meet the ever growing costs associated with weddings, it was revealed that 28% people even take out a loan to cover the costs and 22% of couples share the cost of the big day with their parents.

Additionally the average cost per head of an Irish wedding is €61 while 45% of people spend over €60 per head.

Given the expense on couples it is no surprise that 77% of people surveyed preferred a cash gift as opposed to an actual wedding present, especially since two in five couples (38%) tend to go well over their wedding budget.

Saturday is also still the most popular day to get married, with 42% of those surveyed preferring to get married on the weekend  and on average couples tend to wait an average of 18 months between getting engaged and the big day.
