October Events taking place in West Cork

If you looking for things to do in West Cork over the next week there is plenty to keep you entertained.  Firstly the West Cork Arts and Wellness Festival takes place from the 6th to the 12th October. The West Cork Arts and Wellness Festival West Cork is an interactive week-long festival, celebrating life, the arts and wellness. The festival takes place in various towns around West Cork including Bantry, Clonakilty, Dunmanway and Skibbereen and if you are looking for hotels near Bantry or places to stay in West Cork then look no further than our West Cork accommodation.  The festival lands in Skibbereen on the 11th of October when the Cumasú Bus lands in Supervalu Car Park Skibbereen from 11-4pm showcasing an exciting programme of music, creative writing workshops and film featuring Skibbereen Smiles and Skibbereen Scenes Youth Projects.

Also on October 18th, Rosscarbery Steam Engine, 5K Fun Run and Walk takes place at 5pm and the Skibbereen Charity Adventure Race (Scar) is also taking place with 3 courses designed for all levels of fitness. 

  • 76K total- Run 21Km, Bike 54km, & Kayak 1km
  • 40K total- Run 12 km, Bike 28km & Kayak 1km
  • 17k total- Run 5km, Bike 12km

Commencing at 9am, the multi-discipline adventure race takes place amidst breathtaking scenery of West Cork, including Skibbereen, Castletownshend and the stunningly beauitiful Lough Hyne. This not for profit sporting event promises to donate 100% of race entry fees to local charities and good causes in the area. The beneficiary charity for 2014 is Cork Association for Autism- a charity that provides support services to adults with autism in the Cork city and county areas. Supporting this great cause, the after party will also be held in our Cork Hotel.
