Enjoy a memorable Halloween /  midterm break away in the heart of West Cork, with wonderful dining options and locally sourced produce in our Kennedy Restaurant in Skibbereen as well as a range of attractions in the locality for the family to enjoy.

At our Cork Hotel we are also running our annual pumpkin competition for kids, where kids can put their pumpkin carving kills to the test and enter the West Cork Hotel's Pumpkin Competition! The most creative pumpkin WINS a voucher for O'Sullivan's Toy Shop in Skibbereen! Some small competition rules apply....

Pumpkin Carving Rules:

  • Buy ...or Grow your own pumpkin
  • Decorate your pumpkin- all decorations must be completed by using felt tip pens, paints or by carving. Objects may be glued or stuck onto the pumpkins.
  • Pumpkins must be registered at The West Cork Hotel between Monday 27th and Friday 31st October 2014.
  • Prizes will be announced on 31st October at 12 noon in The West Cork Hotel.
  • * Kids always ask an adult for help when carving.

As well as a host of family activities and things to do in West Cork, the Skibbereen Vintage Day is also set to take place over the October Bank Holiday Weekend (on Monday 27th). Taking place on Ilen Street, there are lots of activities taking place including; Tug-a-war, pig on a spit, music and dancing, thrashing and basket weaving, dog show, pig race, stalls with local produce and wheel of fortune. Please note that ilen Street will be closed from 1:30-5pm.

Another fun activity (not for the faint-hearted!) is the optional visit to The Haunted Room 28 at the nearby Eldon Hotel in Skibbereen (extra charge may apply and advanced booking is required).
