West Cork Literary Festival

Its just 5 days to go to the launch of the West Cork Literary Festival, which takes place in Bantry West Cork from the 6th July until the 12th July. 

Promising a great day out the West Cork Literary Festival is hosting an extensive programme of daily readings, seminars, workshops, panel discussions and children's events. There is also a competition taking plac- The J.G. Farrell Fiction Awardfor the best opening chapter of a novel-in-progress for a writer resident in Munster.  

At the heart of the extensive programme are three and and five day workshops in Colaiste Pobail Bheanntrai. These workshops cover such subjects as the novel, travel writing, script writing, poetry, creative writing for beginners, writing for children and much more.

Attendees of the festival over the past few years include Mary Robinson, Lord Melvyn Bragg, Ahdaf Soueif, Sir Michael Parkinson, Michael Palin, Nuruddin Farah, Michael Morpurgo, Michael Holroyd, Annie Proulx, Margaret Drabble, Fay Weldon and many more.

Free readings are also held in Bantry Library and Bantry Bookshop. Afternoon seminars will also take place including book launches, panel discussions, coffee and chat events as well assessions with an editor.
