Island Summer Festivals

One of the many enjoyable things to do in west cork this summer is a visit to the many islands known locally as the Carbery Hundred Isles. Taking a ferry out to one of these islands is a worthwhile add-on to a summer break in the region. Many of these islands are either habited or unhabited and are home to unparalled beauty and rich heritage.

And it's not alone the natural beauty that is on offer this summer, there are also a vast array of festivals which are taking place on the islands this summer. Some of the many festivals taking place include the weekend whale & dolphin watching course from the 11th -13th July on Cape Clear Island, Sherkin Island Regatta on the 20th July, Heir Island Regatta on the 14th August as well as a Food Festival on Whiddy Island from the 18th-20th July. 

With ferries running daily there is no excuse to visit the islands to explore what they have on offer or why not tie in some whale watching west cork is now famous for. Cape Clear, Sherkin and Heir Islands and all accessible from Baltimore and Schull in West Cork and Whiddy Island is also accessible from Bantry Bay.
